My Painting Challenge

A couple of months ago I began painting dogs in an attempt to capture their spirit in an impressionistic way. It has and continues to be a wild ride..I am learning so much about structure, color, value, and simplicity by limiting my subject matter. I am also painting for a good cause, for a portion of the sale goes to a local animal rescue. My local gallery is having fun receiving the images as well as notes from dog owners who give us a glimpse into the dog's meaning to them.
I feel that this challenge is strengthening my landscape paintings too. My paintings are also becoming more impressionistic and I am seeing more color in them. I am stretching myself.
Who knows where this will all lead? That is the joy of being an artist. I am on a journey which is never dull.
