Painting Outside No Matter What?

Along the Cimmarron, 9"x12", oil
I ventured down to Evergreen, CO to participate in a plein air paint out at the Lake there. A sunny day, cold, and very windy...Wind is one thing I hate when painting outside. I can't concentrate on my painting while holding on to everything else. A fellow artist and I talked about those who will paint out no matter what the weather. What is learned from such an experience? Can you really concentrate on the subject? I think I have learned several things: #1. Dress for the weather...#2. If you are fighting Mother Nature, then pack it up.
Painting outdoors in bad weather doesn't prove anything to anyone else..unless you come out with a spectacular piece! And then...was it really worth the anguish?
